Evansville- Whirlpool is closing the plant in Evansville at the end of March and moving the remaining operations to Mexico.  Over 1000 supporters from all over Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky; representing at least 18 different unions attended the rally and march.  AFL-CIO president Richard Trumpka came out from Washington DC to show his support for these displaced workers.

 

  Indianapolis-Nearly 200 janitors were laid off from Pan Am Plaza Monday February 22.  Supporters rallied by marching and chanting the unfair loss of jobs.  Indiana unemployment is within the worst 33% of the country.

IBEW 153 held their 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off February 20th at the Union Hall on Northside Blvd in South Bend.  A wide variety of entries competed for top honors.   $5 got you all the chili you could handle and the money went to help out union members experiencing tough times. (below)
